Eth Nat Yirg Idido roasted yesterday. I dropped some off at a friends coffee shop. In a few days he will brew it and tell me what he thinks. We believe my roasts are better than what we buy.

Part 1 - The drum
Alchemist
1) Drum - Wire mesh. George Forman without support rod. The drum will be modified with a wire guide to allow the front to be open for sampling. The back may be modified to keep stress off the motor during dumping.

Why did we go with this for the drum? For me it is a number of reasons.

Inexpensive
Easy to work with
Available
Easy chaff removal
Good heat transfer

Here is what the drum basically looks like.

And this is from the general design thread, but I wanted to get the details in their appropriate area. The plan is to open the front of the drum for the ability to have a trier and dump the roast hands off without gloves.

The front will be opened and a three layered grooved support will be attached for the drum to ride on guide wires.

We will actually get into photos, but here are the first drawings.
