Morning Ed, I haven't done any green coffee hoarding yet but am hoping the supplies don't end up like the toilet paper isles!

In the market for a drum roaster.
Hey everyone!

I’m looking to buy a drum roaster that would roar about 1 kilo. Also want it to be able to plug into a computer so that I can create profiles and save them. With the proper temp probes as well. Just really want to roast coffee so that I can start selling in the future. Any recommendations you guys have would be great! I’m willing to pay around $1000 max.
I don't think there is a drum roaster that meets your price range and features. One kilo roasters are double or triple what you want to pay and they all have the USB for Artisan or their own proprietary software. You can look up Ailio Bullet and Jake Kilo (coming soon I hear) but both are upper 2000 range to mid 3000 range machines. HTH...
For half the money you can get a barebone oven like this:

... and start tinkering with the other half money for airflow, chaff exhaust, cooling tray, and electronics.
The drum is 8 litres, good for 1-1.2 kg.
Thanks for the help guys. After going over a few things I’m raising my budget to about $4,000. This should get me at least an entry level roaster that I’m looking for.
My perception about this market... it is more layered on volume/capacity, than on sophistication/technology.
I don't know any company having an entry and an advanced roaster for same capacity.
Imo, the best money spent now under 1 kg are on Cormorant roaster.
