Excited to be here to learn and to share

Well, technically this is my third roaster. I started out like a lot of you all with a popcorn popper about 10 years ago and graduated to a FreshRoast after the popper burned up. Then, when I accidentally dropped the carafe I found myself without any way to roast which couldn't stand. So, I sat down in my garage and looked around at all the crap on my shelves and decided I'd try and build one with whatever I had lying around. That's when what you see was born. I've been using this guy for about 7 years now and have really enjoyed roasting for myself, friends & family. But I've recently got the the itch to make a new roaster and this site has really inspired me. I love the taste, but it's quite the juggling act between managing the stove. This batch was about 15-20g more than I usually roast at one time, but I think with a little more creativity I'm hoping I can add a little more "technology" to the process. I'd love my next roaster to be driven by the Artisan software.

Anyway, I'm so glad I've found this forum. I've already been soaking up information like a sponge and look forward to interacting with you all in the future.

Super cool! Welcome to the forum!

There is a lot to be said for being able to successfully build a roaster out of whatever happens to be laying around, especially one as cool as this!

I bet it makes some darn good coffee too
