Hi! Looking for a legacy inlet temp sensor on 13 yr old Gene Cafe. It seems they've changed it and now you need new mother board and new sensor. Any ideas where I can find compatibile old one? Mark

Sure, probably safety for uber-overheat.
In the same series circuit with the temperature regulator, but not linked to temperature knob.

Is this an electronic control lid, or using mechanical knobs for timer and thermostat ?

If electronic, then the heat control is inside the plastic cover, a relay. Requires complete dismount.
If thermostat, then it should be under the bulb plate we see in image, on the same vertical as temperature knob shaft.

My trusty Turbo Oven of several years has gone to heaven

Lucky I had a spare brand new in box TO unit ready to go
Today in testing the new unit I have noticed that it does not cycle On & Off
The element is on all the time

Let’s see how we go when I do a roast

First roast has been completed
A blend of Ethiopian and Peru
Kept a close watch on the roast and had to keep a close eye so it did not get away from me

I had to adjust the temp as I saw fit and once I lifted the D handle to manually switch the heat off for about 20 seconds

But the roast was beautiful

Bulb? Motor, anything else ?
You are lucky, the lids that are sold here have a life of two-three years average, with a pound roast weekly.
The mechanics/motor is the main failure point, because the oils and chaff make a slime that covers anything in the motor section.
If you don't want to be terrified, don't ever dismount a lid up to the last level, under the plastic canopy.

Still works at a reduced capacity, just doesn’t get up to heat
I see a lot of white lime looking material inside the glass element tube
Have a feeling that if used more it will probably blow the wire filament

My Turbo has been going since 2011. It is an older sunpentown with the solid heating element. I do a complete disassembly including the motor every 3 months or so. It does get nasty looking in the top chamber where the innards are. The motor becomes bogged down and slows with the oils and gunk from roasting.

I initially Vac out the bulk and use simple green to clean the gum and gunk.
Then a light lubrication of the motor shaft. Let everything dry before running. My motor is easy to remove and take apart. Other turbo oven designs may be very difficult.

Just an update since I originally started this thread, I've done 14 roasts at 650 gms each and am overall pleased with the results. I've adjusted volume up a few times but 650 seems good for my build. Consistency of roast is very good and almost always takes the same amount of time. Thanks for all the help and especially to KK for this efficient design.
