Behmor 1600AB in Wa

New to the forum, not new to coffee!

I owned an espresso catering business once upon a time, and that led to coffee snobbery and eventually home roasting. ????

First roaster was an air popcorn popper, which produced better beans than what I was buying. Life changer!

Used that for about two years before the wife upgraded me to a Freshroast 500. It was a nice step up from the air popper, but not a huge upgrade. I have been roasting with that particular roaster for the past four years… Until yesterday!

I have been looking at the Behmor 1600 for a few years now and the wife must have observed that I consistently went back to that machine… So she bought me one yesterday! I have now run three trial batches and have been impressed. However, there is a great learning curve as this is a completely different machine and what I have used before.

I am looking forward to reading through this form and cleaning knowledge from all of your experience. If anyone has any helpful advice or can point me to some articles or links that they feel would be beneficial, please send them my way!
A Lucky Man to have a wife get you just what you wanted!!!
The Behmor will be quite a different beast, from what you had been using.
Good luck learning and roasting!
I have had the Behmor 1600 for some 15 years. I roast a pound a week and keep a log. You have a great roaster. Experiment with the settings and times. It just takes experience and notes - you will figure out what works for you. Stick with one bean ( your favorite) at first so you can see what the different modes and times will do to the bean...
