Maybe post in the Behmor section. Behmor users can see it. The SHOUTBOX post will be hidden in a few days.

Jyoungs3, you should start a post about it. The shoutbox entries will scroll away in time.

Anybody know what this "new" roasting technique entails?

"if they can guess how we do it, I want them to come work for me.”

If I guess I'll start my business, lol Grin

Infrared, what else...
...and I guess he is talking about heater temperature, not the ET, which is not good for the beans, as discussed elsewhere just these days.

Next... roasting without smoke... in which universe? Grin

While typing, another guess... he is using a wok Grin

Also, "no oxygen in the roasting chamber."

KKTO Roaster.

Perhaps roasting in a vacuum chamber with a halogen bulb heat source. Whatever the technology is, it remains to be seen if they're successful and accepted in the coffee roasting world.

The LinkedIn link leads back to a company called Sono. They use sound to manipulate, enhance, and alter things. Have not had time to look further, but it would go with the “Aria” name.

Maybe a vacuum-sealed conductive "cartridge" using their "pre-portioned green coffee beans" placed into a PID controlled induction heater tub of some sort, allowing for water cooling the roast chamber afterward. It seems there is no chaff removal so the size must be small enough not to bother. Also, at 7.5# an hour for the commercial 4 module unit the batch size must be small based on 4-10 minute roast profiles... a guess would be 60-140 grams per charge.

Thank you greencardigan. We will wonder no more. It's been a long, expensive and arduous journey by the looks of it, for all the product development. Hopefully it works out for them.

I didn't realize that this was the same guy back in the early 2000's that was advertising a novel approach to home roasting using his pouches in your home microwave. The pouch had a microwave susceptor built in to it similar to the foil looking internals found in microwave dinner cooking pouches which provided the heat for the roast. The problem with that product was obviously the lack of any bean agitation and according to reviews, produced a bad cup.
1/2 lb and 1 lb drum, Siemens Sirocco fluidbed, presspot, chemex, cajun biggin brewer from the backwoods of Louisiana

Thanks for the amplifying information. Time will tell if we all start microwaving our beans?!?
