I rarely purchase roasted coffee. I just ordered 4 bags from Mountain Air Roaster.

Has anyone every roasted a white coffee roast? Can you grind them on a normal home grinder like on a Gaggia MDF?

JackH
From what I have read, white coffee is normal coffee that is roasted at a lower temperature for 1/2 the time. High caffeine content. The beans will be very hard and dense and will need a really powerful grinder.

I can't imagine it tasting very good but people seem interested in it, probably for the 50% higher caffeine.

I have roasted many batches (by mistake) in my early roasting days.

KKTO Roaster.

I actually read that caffeine in a coffee bean is quite stable during roasting.

So the higher caffeine content in light roast is only true when comparing with darker roasts by volume, since density is higher for the former.

But when comparing by weight, caffeine is higher with dark roast.

Not so sure about this claim, caffeine start decompose at 235 C, which is a temperature easily attainable after second crack.
