Coated steel
kwrcst
So I have an above ground pool I just dismantled and found out the walls are made of coated steel. Can this be used as the shell of a drum roaster? I have a stainless drum for it but am looking to see if I can reuse what I have. The outside of the walls have a little rust showing so that would need to be ground down and maybe high heat painted to finish.

Thoughts?

I would stay clear of any coated metals unless you have an SDS sheet showing it's good to well over 500 F and no chance of nasty off gassing.

Even for shell? I suppose he means outer shell, not drum...

My bad! Didn't read close enough to see shell instead of drum. No problem with coated for exterior skin or shell.
