I made this video to show my first roasting system

Let me know what you think.

Nice video!

Fun, and it shows how to roast coffee simply with a popper. You are correct to let the popper cool down between batches.

Most of us started this way and moved on to bigger roasters but the popper will always be the best and economical way to start and learn.

Not only a really cute video, but very educational for the person wanting to get started with home roasting. Have been roasting for a long time with a hot air popper and love it. It's a device you can't go wrong with. To get larger batches, I am now graduating to the Gene Cafe roaster and look forward to some new learning curves. Well done with the video, I can tell the both of you had a lot of fun making it.

I found this while cruising YouTube the other day -
A few questions:
I assume the 10 minute roasting time is standard on all batches?

Do you hear the 1st crack and 2nd crack?..

The evenness of the roast looks good - do all roasts turn out the same?... any need to let them roast 'more' or 'less'?

You did say "let me know what you think" so here goes. First, fresh roasted beans pump off CO2 for a couple of days and has a very distinct flavor of its own so it is recommended to roast ahead of time. Still, if you are making pancakes you gotta do what you gotta do. Second, a burr grinder will make a big difference in the taste. Thats it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the awesome video. Some great touches, the cups, the T-shirt. You must have had rehearsals because it turned out very well.tiki
