Question on Propane Hose
coffeeroastersclub
I am having difficulty finding a suitable hose for supplying propane to 2 single jet burners. I have a T coming off a PID controlled on/off gas valve. I need high temp hose to the inlet of the littlle burners. The burner inlets are close to the burner jets so the temp gets a bit high there (around 350F). I had high temp silicone (supposedly 500F max) let it broke due to the heat. It had 1/8" walls and the hose itself is not under pressure when in operation. Any suggestions? I will need to cut the hose to length needed.

Can you post pic of the desired setup for reference?

Here's the mcmaster 250-799F rated hose page. I'm really not sure what hose types would work for LP that are "rated" for other things

(edit - just realized the link doesn't filter temps. You have to scroll down on the left to get to the temp filter)

Thanks Jon. I will check out mcmaster. I use them alot, for some reason I overlooked. I don't have a picture handy yet, I will see how I do with mcmaster.

Just a followup to Mcmaster. WOW they are expensive for that hose. Over $30 for 1 12inch length. Ouch.

I would find a way to do a couple of pigtail loops out of soft aluminum tubing. Add a transition point bulkhead plate somewhere and adapt to hose then where the heat has died down to an acceptable level.

Yeah it's weird. Some stuff has great pricing, other stuff is ridiculous. That's the interwebs I guess.

Thanks Allen for that suggestion. I may have some bendable copper tubing around and will try to give that a shot.

Just want to make a mention that I finally got my revised 4+ pound fluid bed roaster converted from electric heating element to gas. It was a bit more trial and error than I originally anticipated: I had to go to a bit more different (not as fragile) electric dryer gas ignitor, and also needed to do what Allen suggested involving adding metal tubes that go to the burners. Works excellent now. It is much more responsive to the profile I inputted into my PID than the electric elements were. I did a trial with 2 lb. beans and did a spot on City+ roast. My next trial will be at full capacity (4 lb. beans). I will try to put a video up.
