Dryer Ignitor Element Heat Output
CharcoalRoaster
Since my turkey fryer burner is too low pressure to produce a good flame I'm trying to revisit heating options that will fit my setup without a total rebuild. Since I utilized a dryer ignitor heating element I was curious what kind of output those have in terms of heat since they are constant, ceramic, and get nice and bright.

Let's just say I had 3 of those fired up inside an airtight chamber, and considering they're not affected by airflow, would they have the capacity to roast any size load of beans? I'm talking max 1kg or less???

I wouldn't bother. Not enough surface area on them to provide any amount of heat to high CFM air.

Thanks Len - that's helpful. Since we're on the topic of dryer heat sources what about using this coil? it seems like a reasonable substitute for heat gun heating element while offering more surface area than my initial item question.

I should be done within the next week (hopefully) with the propane gas adaptation of my former 5 lb. fluid bed electric coffee roaster. It uses the dryer ignitor elements and 2 single nozzle propane jets. I hope to put up a video of it all ... maybe you can glean some info from it for your own project.

Same here Jon. My condolences to you. I lost my dad a few years back and it's a long healing process. Hang in there and keep roasting!
