Good day, eh?

Hi folks:

Greetings from Ottawa, Canada.

I just replaced my iRoast-2 with a Hottop. I have been roasting for about a half a year.

Roasting with the iRoast was easy as 1-2-3:
1. Put on earplugs
2. Turn on roaster
3. Press "cool" after about eight minutes.

Roasting on the Hottop looks to be more rewarding, but also involved, so I look forward to reading the collective wisdom here.

Currently I am drinking mostly Kenyan on a V60 while I fix up (and mod, of course) my espresso machines and grinders, but I just got a Turkish coffee maker ("Beko") so that will be interesting.

Cheers,
-Craig

Hello from Mechanicsville!

Do you know other roasters around here?
Only been in the “Gattawa” region (NCR) for a bit over a year. Have yet to buy green beans here. Any suggestion for a local source?
Maybe we should start an Ottawa coffee club of some sort.

Started roasting a while ago but have been on an extended hiatus, for several reasons. Used a number of hot air poppers before settling on the i-Roast 2 which, as you say, provides a lot of convenience. Also had quite a bit of fun with the “heatgun and dogbowl” method.

Anyhoo, (belated) welcome to HRO!
