Cool Beans

It was in the 90's yesterday when I was roasting outside so I brought out my fan to create a breeze for me.... Something just clicked and wowzers what an epiphany.... Beans cooled down in an instant.....

I have used a similar method as well in an emergency
But the fan method is not as good as a dedicated cooler

I have several 120 vac 120mm computer cooling fans from my S-100 days.

Plan is to have a sheet metal shop fabricate something that will hold the SF bean tray and use 2 of the big cooling fans to blow into it (controlled by a rheostat so that I don't blow the beans all over the place).

I'll incorporate the cooling system into the cart to keep things all together, simple, and easy to use.

That is the SF-1's steel bean cooling tray (steel with a perforated steel bottom for cooling the beans on the roaster). the small SF batch/sample roasters do not have a bean stirrer just the perforated tray

Well designed and well made. I feel that the air flow in the roaster's cooling is a little under what it needs to be. Maybe I need to look into the roaster's blower next??!?!?!?

Found out why the fan/blower is not working so well.

the cross over pipe from the roasting chamber to the cyclone was more than 50% clogged with black charcoal bean bean crud. Probably from the numerous roaster fires prior to my ownership.

No idea why I never looked down that tube when I was rebuilding the roaster. Took the cross over pipe off to try to seal the damper a little better and WOW was I surprised when I shined a flashlight down the pipe. Maybe could have fit a fat pen through the opening. couple pokes with a long screwdriver and the crunch bits dislodged and fell out.

Will be roasting in the next day or so and am anxious to see if this makes a difference.

Just when I thought I had my profiles together the coffee gremlin throws a curve ball. All bets are off now that I have air flow

Time to start all over again..... why me?!?!?!?!?!?!?
