Anyone else have issues seeing the whole window of a thread when accessing from a mobile phone? Any fixes?

Morning Ed, I haven't done any green coffee hoarding yet but am hoping the supplies don't end up like the toilet paper isles!

Slow Roaster
fiddleboy
I have tried to follow recommendations on roasting profiles, but have noticed my roaster never gets even close to the temperature settings, with the exception that it does reach 300 before 5 min. elapsed time. So, I did the "482" test - set the roaster to 482 deg., then timed the period for the roaster to warm up to 482. This was almost 7 minutes - a rather long, but, I guess, acceptable time frame.

My question is this: should I just follow the profile settings that I see posted for various coffees - or should I make adjustments - like add some time for each phase; or use fewer beans in the roast?

Hi, fiddleboy.

7 minutes is the low end of acceptable. Are you using an extension cord? If not, do you have access to a tester to tell you what your voltage is at the receptacle you're plugged in to? Sounds like low voltage.

Some more questions -
Do you warm your drum empty for a few minutes before roasting?
What volume of beans are you roasting now?
Are you using a warming stage at the beginning of the roast?
What time does first crack come?
What time does second crack come? (if you go that far)

Answering these will help us help you.

In the meantime, have fun!

John
