Eth Nat Yirg Idido roasted yesterday. I dropped some off at a friends coffee shop. In a few days he will brew it and tell me what he thinks. We believe my roasts are better than what we buy.

Yemen Mokha Sharasi and Liquid Amber Blend
gene
Bought ten pounds of Sharasi and Yemen Mokha Ismaili, et al last week. Inspired by what John Despres said some years ago that I might like Yemini.
Gave my wife the first sip this AM as a wet Macchiato. She frowned.

Thats alright, she likes her coffee with French Vanilla, yuck.

It is really good about half and half. Roasted to FC+ three days ago. Its a little early yet but you can taste the spice and dark fruit.

Tried sweet Maria's Liquid Amber Blend for the first time. Wow, its pungent!
Roasted three days ago to Tom's recommendation of Vienna. First Vienna have roasted since roast #1 with GC years ago by accident.
What are those real light colored beans in this blend? Is that chicory?

Shipped my son half pound each of Kenya Kirinyaga and Malawi Mapanga yesterday to Afghanistan minutes after it roasted. Man, he goes thru it fast.

Hiya, Gene!

The Yemen shines after about a week. It's true it's not for everyone, but I hope you like it.

You are a saint. Allowing your wife vanilla in her coffee is, well, saintly.

I'm posting an additives story in the snop forum..

Let us know how you like the Yemen in a few days.

John

All this talk of coffee with titles and estate origins has got me chomping at the bit. But when you live hand to mouth mail order is a little far out there. Soon, i hope. Ben.
Bad coffee prevails when good coffee roasters stand by and do nothing.

This Yemeni Mokha Sharasi is the most time sensitive coffee I have ever tasted. It has taken 10 days for me to say that I truly like it.

Tom's notes say to let rest three days. Ha. Next time I'm not even sipping until the eighth day. It still has the most distinct personality of any coffee I've ever tried. Can appreciate the cupping wheel category of "body" now at Sweet Maria's.
Full scores on body "bittersweet pungent notes."

Now the first Yemen Ismalii goes into the GC today. Hopes its as good.

My son in Afghanistan will go crazy over this one. His 18-20 hour days will now seem much shorter. Most importantly for him the Yemeni seems like it has much more caffeine. Maybe its only because of the thick body but sure hits you that way. Wonder if that has anything to do with drying on their roof instead of wet processing?

Thanks John for encouraging me to venture into unexplored coffee territory. Ya never know til you try.

That's great, Gene!

And 10- 12 days of rest it makes a killer SO espresso.

I love this stuff with lots of rest or straight out of the roaster - so many variables for this coffee.

I want some Yemen.

I can't afford Yemen.

I will drink more Nicaraguan, though there is no taste correlation, just cost.
