Can someone help me for using forced propane burner as my heating element. I rather want to use lpg than electric. Do you think it would work

McMaster.com has some, but they are pricey. You might be able to buy some from a university glass shop, typically in the chemistry department. By the way, Pyrex is a tradename for borosilicate glass.

Dan, I might be interested in one of those bake tubes, if it matches the original Poppery P1 heat chamber. Apparently there were two sizes of bake tubes, and the only ones I've found so far doesn't fit (although I can probably make an adapter). thanks! -bill

Hi Dan, the poppers here seem to be approx 3 inch I.D -- the oil lamp globe I have measures just a bit less than 3 inch O.D. and fits several of my poppers.

The only bake-a-around tube that I have on-hand measures about 3.75 inch O.D. and won't fit without some sort of adapter.

Bill were you able to find a pyrex tube that would work?

Not yet, but no hurry -- just slowly gathering parts for a possible future project. shoestring budget too.

Ask Scott for the name of the glass guy he turned me onto for my 5 ich tube I'm sure he will give the dude up seeing as how its for a good cause like building a coffee roaster.

Hi,
If a 4" glass tube suits, I used a Coleman gas lamp replacement glass.

You can see it in my build log http://forum.home...post_30690

There are a number of different sizes, mine is 4" diameter by about 4" high.

Most large camping stores will have them as replacement parts or you should be able to buy online.

And they do a 5" replacement globe as well. A few of us have used these.

I think the barber pole glass is available also. I bit expensive, but very soiid..

No oil on my beans...

Will the barber pole glass hold up to the heat cycles from a roaster? I have been thinking of potentially using glass for the bubblebed since it is touchy with the airflow and it would be easier to look through glass to see bean movement.
