peveleth, It is better if you start a post in the forum with your question. These shouts go away in time.

For Gene Cafe Roasters I have an older Gene Cafe Roaster. Temp fluctuates probably showing age. Question: For recent owners of the newer Gene Cafe Roaster, your opinions?

Morning Ed, I haven't done any green coffee hoarding yet but am hoping the supplies don't end up like the toilet paper isles!

John Despres
I need one more name as I have an odd number. If no more players, I'll be happy to play twice.

No reports mandatory, but I could use them. If my coffee is to improve, I will need the tastebuds of others.
Looking forward to the swap!! Scott

This is all about fun and just enjoying what our fellow home roasters are creating in their own homes.

Thanks for coming on board, Ringo!

I typed out all the names, cut them into strips, dumped them all into my antique Kaffee Hag can and drew the names.

And here are the pairings!

Jim Lyon, jlyon10 - Ed B, Farmroast

Scarter11 - Jimbo

Ginny - John Despres

6eight - David, DJA

Allen, allenb - Scott, freshbeans

Phil, stonegurd - Chad, sedlings

Marshall, marshall_s - unta, Sean

Randy, rndytsuch - Ringo

So there you have it. Choose a batch or two of your favorite, roast it to your best abilities and share it with your partner.

Now here's a wrinkle that's been thrown in on occasion - Don't label your batch of beans and play "Guess the origin". That's up to each of you as pairs; everyone does not have to play! However, I should add, sending a blend for "guess the origin" isn't fair, unless your partner is up for it (not me, though). You can all choose to swap a half pound batch or a pound. In past swaps, I've sent out 2 different half pound batches.

You can find your partner in the above posts and send private messages to exchange addresses and decide how you want to play.

In other words, mix it up and have fun!

John:

Of course I want to guess!! That is the fun element in this wonderful Christmas swap you put together. Thank you for all of your time in working this out John.

Let me get this straight, we send two batches f coffee to our partner in swap?
How much do we send. I am assuming you want to guess too?!

love ya ginny,

I also need your address.

I think you should post the article about yourself here; great piece and you look very sexy in your hat!Grin

awe yes the Holiday Bean Swap, I'm ready got my beans picked out and made contact with my fellow roaster who choses to do both a stright up swap and guess the origin.

So now if this bum leg will stop playing games on me for a couple of hours I can have some fun and take the roaster out into the world for all to see and turn green beans brown.
Come what may the beans will be in the mail by friday this weeks end.

Ah, Ginny, you can post it if you like I'll send a hard copy with your beans.

Ah, yes, my hat... well, uh, gee, um, okay.

I'll play guess the origin, yes, but I'm terrible at it...

I dunno, I've always swapped in half pound batches, so I'll be sending you a half pound each of two coffees.

If the postal system holds up its end of the bargin 6eight (Keith) should have his package today or tomorrow, I was able to send his mistery bean roasted and vac sealed so they should arrive in fine shape.

the 1/2 pound of Costan Rican was shipped green due to unforseen problems on my end, I hope that they make a good after Chrismas dinner cup for him and his.
