I just roasted 500g of Mocha Mattari -- it's on it's third day of rest. Should be cracking into it tomorrow AM and I can't wait!

looking to buy Ethiopia Organic Shakiso Sidamo "Maduro"
milknmycoffee
Any Ethiopia Organic Shakiso Sidamo "Maduro" floating around for sale?

I am almost through my stash (including several pounds given to me by Gene). This coffee is literally my family's favorite...in some cases almost exclusively so....

With the new Ethiopian auction system, I fear that I will never see this wonderful coffee for sale at Sweet Maria's again....

Thanks :)

I have a big bag of Ethiopian Natural Sidamo Guji Special that should be shipping next week, just waiting on cupping of the test roast that is happening tomorrow.. I know its not exactly what your looking for..but I figured that I would offer.

Sean - that sounds close enough :) In fact I kicked myself for not buying some Sidamo Guji when it was available through Sweet Maria's a while back!

Can you PM me with the details such as price and tasting notes from the cupping? I would probably be in for 5 lbs.

Thanks :)

Sure thing..
I guess i should offer it up, anyone else that would like some please pm me.. if there is enough interest, I'm going to get more than one bag because the natives are restless around me for some treats :)..

Sounds like the family might need to help you to procure a large bag of their favorite green

Thanks Sean...count me in for 5 lbs :)

dja - The family is really supportive of the coffee roasting habit....now I just have to convince them that a 20 lb bag might be better than a 5lb ha ha....

Even my brother-in-law has been looking online for some Maduro. I told him I would take charge of procuring some...he is new to coffee roasting and doesn't understand how big a quality variation there is among suppliers. I didn't want him to end up unwittingly buying some cruddy greens.

Sean:

I would take a 5'er.
thanks if that is possible since I am not sure what you need to send out.

Sean, do you know if this is a bonafide single-estate lot, or part of Ethiopia's new 'coop'?

If there is less than 80lbs of interest I'm getting one bag..more interest I'm getting two two. So..... as much as you'd like..

Ill ask the question CHAD.

from the sales guy....its not coop but from a coop? anywho, there is also notes on a Guatemalan that im getting.
mine should be up today.

Our cupping notes for the Ethiopian Natural Sidamo Guji 3:

Sweet fruity start, berry with strawberry mix, milk chocolate and cremy texture.

This coffee is not single estate or from any Coop, is pretty much a selection of the best coffees from different small farms in the Sidamo region out together for the mill base on the profile and grade as 3

El Limonar is a Estate in Guatemala :

Cupping Notes:

Sweet lemon, cherry start, clean with chocolate finish.

I might be in for some once you get a price, let me know.
Surely do like them Ethiopians, along with just about all the other coffee's in the world. Except for some of the funky Indo's, had a PNG that really put me off.;)

heres my Guji take
Guji
little spice on the nose @ break.. Berry/ strawberry, you really get the strawberry nice body, not quite as heavy as the harrar..roasted very nicely not as inconsistent as the harrar.roasted to end of first crack..probe temp 426.. see graph I had an error at the start so for time sake I was 6 minutes to 300 after that the graph reads as it does.
the rapid rise in the graph represents about 40 degrees over 1minutes time.
the sample time was 5 second intervals.
1lb sample +/- I didn't actually put it on a scale.
