peveleth, It is better if you start a post in the forum with your question. These shouts go away in time.

For Gene Cafe Roasters I have an older Gene Cafe Roaster. Temp fluctuates probably showing age. Question: For recent owners of the newer Gene Cafe Roaster, your opinions?

Morning Ed, I haven't done any green coffee hoarding yet but am hoping the supplies don't end up like the toilet paper isles!

Women's Cupping
BoldJava
Guys dominate the table and the forums, with notable exceptions <tips hat to Ginny>.

I am putting together a cupping session of women from work who have expressed an interest in learning. I have enlisted the support of Cheryl, who lives about 30 SW of us and used to be a cupper for http://coffeeproject.com. She now has her own business, http://magellancoffee.com. Women often are involved in so many legs of coffee production except the final one, cupping/selection, where they are grossly underrepresented.

I think Cheryl and I will take a run at 4 Colombians from Royal and see if we and the women cuppers can scrum for a good one in the bunch.

Stay tuned.

Be prepared, they are likely to be much more in tune with the flavors than the fellas. The advantage you have is they'll be talking a lot and may forget what they tasted.Grin

We need a matriarch. Maybe you Ginny can serve that role in absentia.

When I discussed the proposed event with the woman broker with whom I work, she said she has found she is one of a very few women at the cupping table. In her humble opinion, women cuppers (who are more often chefs) have a better vocabulary and can pull out more flavors than guys (seems CHAD mentioned that first).

Just a thought to rattle the cage, B|Java

Same with hearing. The ladies can usually catch lower and higher frequencies than fellas of the same age. However, give them a map and, well, they'll have a map.Grin

This is a go. Occurs May 1st. We are going after a good Guat; one SHB, E/P and the second, Antigua Panchoy. As well, for contrast, a Yemen Sinaani and a Hawaiian Ka'u.
