Hi! Looking for a legacy inlet temp sensor on 13 yr old Gene Cafe. It seems they've changed it and now you need new mother board and new sensor. Any ideas where I can find compatibile old one? Mark

Help: Gasketless Cory Vac Pot?
seedlings
I was motivated. I often wonder why "they" with regular, department store coffee brewers buy "good" coffee ever. Why waste the time? I took a perfectly good Brazil, and ruined it in the 4 cup pot - even with the proper filter (albeit paper). The cup tasted like every other cup brewed in there. Even preheating the water through the coffee pot didn't help - thought that might've upped the water temperature enough.

Wow, are wee geeks. I just felt a twinge of embarrassment.

I think you scored a good deal. There is a gasketless Cory going on eBay now for the same price as yours when shipping is added. However, it isn't as pristine as yours.

The filter may have a cracked head. Notice how the dome is positioned away from the lens. That is something to ask about.

I think that one was $9.99 with one bid and like 4 days left when I bought mine.

It ended going for $60 plus shipping.

Did you win?

I had another stall this morning. The first time after 4 successful pots... my fault, though because I ran short on time this morning and tried to rush it.

Chad, I wasn't bidding. I track several of them to get a sense of what the market value is of different models. I am hooked.

I did bid, and lost out on a circa '47 Corning 8 Cupper, pristine condition. I laid in the weeds until 12 seconds before the gong and I was the one who got gonged...snapped out from underneath me. Bid too early.

... And here it is in 2009 brewing some Ethiopian this morning! Notice the new holder for the upper globe (thanks, Dave!).

The more you talk about it, the more likely I am to break it!

Great thread! I just bought a gasketless Cory stovetop last week, and have tested it without coffee just to see if the vacuum holds and it does. The Cory rod is a bit longer than the one I got from Dave (for the Yama - having fun with that one at work).

I'll try it out for real this weekend!

Woody, nice to see you in these parts. Vacpot on!

The Cory rod that is a bit longer often has 'New Cory' cast right on the upper 1/2.

Hi Dave - it's good to see you online! I haven't figured out how to read and post on homeroasters.org from my blackberry, so I don't visit here much, unless it's from the laptop.

Now I'm off to try the Cory with fresh-roast IMV!
