1 lb roasted lasts a week. I can taste the flavor increase to peak, then drop after. Still very good, but interesting to follow the wave of flavor rise and fall.

I seem to have lost any roasting touch I thought I had. Very frustrated to be wasting time and money. I’m hoping someone can provide some insight on roasting at high altitude. I’m at 4400ft. Thank

KKTO - My Humble Turbo Roaster
Koffee Kosmo
Last Saturday I demonstrated my home roaster to a whole bunch of people

The Turbo roaster was also in a competition against a 1 kg commercial German built Giesen Coffee Roaster

All were impressed with the home roaster as it proved to all present including the professional roaster who was very impressed with the quality of the roast result

The green beans to be roasted were supplied by one of the people watching the demo (see photo of the roast)

This gentleman was so impressed with the roast results that he is now building my design TO roaster and is close to 3/4 complete

This is the roaster I was competing against

Lucky! I've never been in a competition here. Or, wait... maybe I should say there is no competition for me here.

Splendid results worthy of accolades!

Update

I have had a busy time helping people to build there own Turbo Oven Roaster from around the globe
With a great deal of positive interest and end results

One question kept being asked
Will you make/produce your Koffee Kosmo Roaster for people that just want to buy one

"Answer"
"Yes the KK Turbo Oven roaster - advanced plans are on the drawing board to be made available in kit form"

However I will need to test the prototype first to see what the comfortable capacity will be

Quotes for pricing are now being finalized with engineering shop
Development costs so far have cost me a few thousand $$
But the finished product will be built to last

More on this and other developments will be posted here

Due to huge development costs
At first I will be making them available as a kit by utilizing off the shelf products and manufacture a docking system to join all its all together

If the roaster is received well by the coffee roasting community, the profits gained from this kit will finance the full design

However the kit will be neat, user friendly and above all functional
Roasting capacity will need to be tested but we are hopeful that it will be around 700 + grams but further sample testing will determine that

Currently
1) Working on a dual docking station for motor and Turbo oven
2) Kit style modular model at first by partly using some off the shelf products
3) Just ordered some sample drive motors with steel/brass gears and attached gearbox that will be manufactured to my specifications
4) Need to sort out an agitator coupling and drive coupling to be more user friendly

Any ideas on agitator coupling and drive shaft design ??

Why not borrow from the breadmaker? Remove a crecent from the shaft, then have the stirring coupling slide down using gravity to hold it in place.

Thanks CHAD
I need to make the agitator stay fixed with the roast chamber as not to fall with the hot roasted beans when tipping out
And the bottom to connect to the drive shaft

I have 2 designs but they will need to be made on a CNC machine
Its preferable at this stage to see if I can find an off the shelf product

I like the design of the hot top cooling agitator but with larger and taller blades

OK, I understand what you're needing...

Again, from the breadmaker, attach the stirrer to an upside-down U-shaped piece, which will fit down on a T-shaped shaft and rotate.

I am trying to source Allen Key shoulder bolts that are suitable as I don't need a long shoulder only 2mm

See drawing

Only trouble I see with the allen head is there's little room for error to get it seated correctly.

Yes agreed on the concern CHAD
The new design will have a short drive shaft max 2 inch & passing through a loose but snug hole so it wont wobble out of centre
And all roasting pots are self centring

Still looking for other suggestions that don't require a CNC machine B)

If you can't source a short 2mm shoulder, how about a length of tube cut for a spacer?
An example of what I'm trying to convey: if you have a 8mm shoulder, cut a 6mm spacer which leaves the 2m available.
Not an ideal solution, but if you can't get the 2mm...........

Yes a spacer would be my next path to take
On Monday I will go to a specialist bolt retailer to check out there offerings

I have configured a gearbox & motor with a 6mm sq drive alloy casing, steel and brass gears

Just keeping you updated on my Turbo Oven kit project

So far the only thing left to manufacture is the base & agitator
I am just waiting in line for my turn to come up for the production run

Here are a few images of the progress so far
