Morning Ed, I haven't done any green coffee hoarding yet but am hoping the supplies don't end up like the toilet paper isles!

Where to get budget greens
seedlings
Great new forum, Ed and Ginny! Here's my contribution...

If you're willing to buy 25# or more, relatively inexpensive, yet tasty greens, have been found at these sites (in no particular order):

www.invalsa.com (Exclusively Bolivian coffees, I liked the AA Bird Friendly Organic)

www.coffeebeancorral.com (cool "Coffee Matrix" for comparing flavors and prices, I liked the Guatamala Huehuetenango Palhu)

www.coffeebeandirect.com (Found some Ethiopian Harrar for $5/lb shipped recently)

www.gilliescoffee.com

At each of these places you can also find more expensive greens too.

Let me throw out a couple sources for half bag (or less) beans...
http://www.thetaridge.com
Theta Ridge out of South Bend, Indiana.
These guys have one of the most wonderful Colombians I've ever tasted. I can't vouch for any of their other beans, but the Colombian Risaralda Supremo rocks my world. A whole 70 kilo bag is about $2 a pound. A 50 pound bag is $2.25 a pound. Very reasonable. They will send you samples if you ask.
Another great Colombian, when it's available is from Andeano Coffee.
http://www.andeanogold.com/green.asp
is their Andeano Rainforest. It's from Colombia Valle del Cauca, and is a mixed pick, including larger beans as well as smaller and peaberrys. It roasts spectacularly. I have not purchased any of this year's crop, but it's worthy of a look and a sample. They sell in half bags which can be delivered UPS. For a homeroaster the whole FOB freight thing is a royal pain. Getting beans FedX or UPS is a plus.

Hi guys,

My contribution.
http://www.greencoffeebuyingclub.com

you have to be a member before you can view what's available.

There are quite a few small vendors who will buy and split bags of coffee with those who commits to buy via the forums.

recently got Brazil Cahoeira da Grama Yellow Bourbon Pulped Natural peaberry for $2.55/lb with shipping and club fees.

Its free to sign up and all new offerings being posted will be notified in your inbox.;)

I'll continue to plug Charlie Preston and his tiny operation here in Ohio. He has GREAT prices for small quantities:

www.cmebrew.com

He's very knowledgeable, and his son built the roaster they use for their roasted coffee sales.

Thanks for the compliment --me in full Mad Hatter fare for Halloween--. I will continue to sing the praises of not only my new pal, Charlie, but also of you for getting me started on this wild coffee ride.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, yourself!

I appreciate all the links. I had trouble with Theta Ridge Coffee link. The correct link is
http://www.thetaridgecoffee.com. I guess it is the same company, it is South Bend, IN also.

That is the correct name, link, and location.

I am not trying to be pushy here, but I sell in large quantities and can even ship full bags, but 50 pounders go UPS anywhere in the US lower 48.
Here is my 25 pound section http://ourcoffeebarn.com/wholesale/in...?cPath=3_4 I am mainly putting a link here to let you know that ther are other options out there. I will try to keep reference to my site to a minimum.

Best thing about buying from Our Coffee Barn is that you are supporting a Wisconsin business, right up the road. Order early; order often.

Good to have you on the board, Pete. Jump in on conversations. Since you wore the green, we will have to get you in on the next round of "Roasting for the Troops."

The OtherChad (CFS) was a squid; I was an airdale.

Pete, if you have Friday, 20 Feb open, 4 of us are cupping some Royal NY beans from Ft. Atkinson. You are more than welcome in our home. 4pm, with micro brews and pizza to follow. Catch me off line.

I like www.QualityGreenCoffee.com. They have quantity discount, 15% or so, and send out coupons to regular customers. I noticed their prices are competitive with other vendors. Their warehouse is located in southeast but their ops is in NC. I don't know whether that's going to make much difference... If you are looking for information and cupping notes, Sweet Maria is the site to go.

This looks like a new company. You say there ops is in NC but their contact page says Florida?

It is a new company. That's why I think they will get some promotional sales going. Although their contact address is FL, I am sure that's not the only way to contact them.

Has anyone out there tried the beans from Costco? I was surprised to see that they carried greens, but grabbed a 30 lb. box of organic Indonesian the other day. I'm not having great success with it a the moment... but wondered if anyone else had tried their beans. They also have Mexican, Guatelmalan and a decaf.

I have not seen green beans at my local Costco but I will look next time I go in.:)

I'm pro decent greens at a good price regardless where they come from. Now, would I be a little leery? Sure.

We don't have a Costco anyway...
