Is this nichrome?
CharcoalRoaster
What about using this coil for a fluidbed heat source? it seems like a reasonable substitute for heat gun heating element. Is it nichrome or some other material. I couldn't find a out a ton about it but thought I saw somewhere its 240v 5400w. So, if I run it on a 110v circuit I should get half that output right? Is that enough to roast 1lb pf greens?

You will get quarter power, not half.
Power = Voltage^2 divided by Resistance.

To get half power on 110V you should divide the length of wire by two, and use only half of the coil, keep the other half as spare.
And yes, 2700W is plenty to roast 1lb, I do this with 1400W in a TO.

I would stay away from it. They are a bit of a pain to setup and highly prone to melting apart unless you have them setup just right. At least that was my experience. You may wish to consider something more along the lines of:

Already wrapped so you don't have to deal with that issue. As they are designed to be used in a heat gun you would need to setup a similar type of non-conductive heat proof container to hold it in which would allow high CFM air to pass through the whole thing.

Master Appliance included an insulation wrap for the inside of my pipe with each of the two replacement elements I bought.
My first one has been working fine for many years inside a some sink drain steel pipe.
No oil on my beans...

I was trying to repair postfix to get email working again and the reinstall broke and took down the whole server.

That's great news that you were able to get things recovered and back up and running. Any idea what caused your server to explode?
